Dear Friends and Supporters,
I am excited to share news about future projects at Tumaini Evangelistic Pre & Primary School! As we approach the Christmas break and look ahead to the new school year, we are embarking on a series of projects that will impact not only our students, but the entire community. With your help, we can turn these dreams into reality.
1. Water for All: Community Water Storage Projects
Water is life. Our school has always welcomed the local community to use water from our well and storage system for their use at home but growing needs have stretched our resources thin. We’re launching three vital water projects:

- A dedicated community water tank and tap outside the school, ensuring families have reliable access while protecting our students’ resources. We have always allowed the local community to come to our school and collect water for use in their homes. However, the increased number of residents who are near our school using that service and the growth of our school have stretched our current water storage system. In addition, they bring their donkeys onto the school property to carry the water and the when the children come to collect water they often leave our “gate” open for livestock to wander onto our property. To provide them with a more reliable amount of water just for their needs, keep the animals off the site and reduce the strain on the system we use to prepare food and provide drinking and cleaning water to the students, we are going to purchase and install a new 10,000 Liter water storage tank on a small elevated platform with a tap (spigot) outside the school fence line. The cost of this project including plumbing into our existing pump system will be $2,300. **A Sunday School Class has already asked to take on funding this project for us**
- Replace our current 10,000 Liter Water Storage Tank that is leaking. Due to the strain on our current system, it has run out of water enough times that the polyethylene tank cracked. The water in the tank helps to keep the temperature moderated so the plastic does not expand and contract too much from the heat during the day. With 300+ students and the entire community using this one tank it kept running out of water which led to an expansion crack. We have repaired the crack, but it will continue to leak. We want to replace the tank and repair the stand of any damage caused by the leak. The cost of this project is $1,700 ** A church has taken on funding this project for us **
- Install a new 10,000 Liter Water Storage Tank, new high elevation stand and run a new supply line across the campus to start a new vegetable garden for the students. To help make sure we constantly have water available even when rolling electrical blackouts make it difficult to pump water, we are going to install a new 10,000 Liter water Storage Tank that will be piped into our current system as a backup. This will include a concrete and metal stand to elevate the tank so it will gravity feed the water across the campus. We will also run a new supply line to an area large enough for the vegetable gardens the school would like to grow for the students. The cost of this project is $3000.
These projects will not only help us to continue to provide clean water for our students and staff but also the community. These projects will help do so while respecting the dignity and health of our community.
2. A New School Office
Currently our school is still using the two offices that are part of the Pre-school classroom building. While the offices are a good size, they are next to the Baby and Middle Pre-school classes, which are the loudest classes. In addition, we use the offices for storage, safes, headmaster, assistant headmaster, work rooms, library, printing station, and sick child rest area.
We are planning to build a new 1300 square foot office that will include 4 separate offices, a workroom/break room area large enough for the entire staff to meet, a reception area, storage area, sick child rest areas and western toilets for visitors. Another benefit of the new office will be an electrical system that was designed for office space and not pieced together from our old solar power system when the school got electricity. The cost for the new office building, including electricity, plumbing and all new furniture will be $34/square foot. **We have had a generous donor agree to match funds for the office. This means if you donate the money for one square foot, we get funding for two square feet. **

3. Empowering Students: The First Computer Classroom
Imagine the only primary school computer lab in our district—right here at Tumaini! With your support, we’ll create a classroom with 10 computer stations, opening doors to digital literacy and brighter futures for our students. We plan to use the existing office rooms to create this computer classroom by tearing down the wall and combining them to create enough space. We will redo the entire electric system for this room to handle the computers. The cost of this entire project including the construction, electrical and purchasing computers and furniture will be $9000 or $900 per student computer station. **We have recieved word a church is sponsoring 5 of our computer stations so we have 5 more to go**

4. Other Essential Projects
- Bulletin board- a freestanding bulletin board system to keep the students informed of what is happening. Cost is $530.
- Burn Barrels-Metal drums mounted around the site for trash instead of the single pit we currently have where trash can be burned. Cost is $2000 for five barrels.
- New office computers for office staff to replace our older donated laptops that are currently between 11 and 17 years old. Cost of $600 each.
A protective chain-link fence to help protect our school buildings. Some of you who follow my Facebook know we have been visited by a group of local elephants that got as close as our football/soccer field. This fence will help deter them from venturing closer to the buildings while helping to secure the site from those with ill intent. The fence will include vehicle and personnel gates and include all our campus except the football/soccer field at a cost of $20,000.
