So the school recently had two days of sports competition. On the first day of competition they played two soccer (football) matches with the boys and two netball matches for the girls. In both, some members of Grade 3 joined Grade 7 to play against Grade 5 and Grade 6 played against Grade 4.

In soccer, Class 7 and 3 beat Class 5 with a final score of 3-2. In the second match Class 6 beat Class 4 with a final score of 5-2. Yes they keep score in Africa. How else will they be able to do a victory dance. In all seriousness they don’t believe in the no score keeping thing. Even the preschool kids compete for prizes in grades and events.

In netball, Class 7 and 3 beath Class 5 again with score of 12-7. And Class 6 also beat Class 4 with a score of 10-6. The reason they joined class 7 and 3 is because class 7 is our last class that is not “full” or at least 30 students. So they needed to fill the ranks and because they have an advantage being older they used the lower class in the competition to fill their ranks.

On the second day, Grade 7 and 3 played against Grade 6 in both soccer and netball to determine the school champions. In soccer, Grade 7 and 3 beat Grade 6 by a score of 6-2. In netball, Grade 6 beat Grade 7 and 3 by a score of 16-9.

The winners received gifts. There was supposed to be a teacher vs champion student match, but I have not heard anything or seen pictures of the results. Normally they bring in some village ringers to help the teachers out.
