The Sunday after my birthday party at the school was student recognition day at Kiruani Tanzania Assemblies of God church. Our students played a big role in leading that church service both in song, skits and delivering multiple short messages. It was a day to be proud of them and bask the ways our students are doing things better because of our school. The two students chosen to give a message were from our school despite many children from the government school being older. You could hear our students clearly in their skits/prepared remarks even if the microphone cut out because we do daily morning speeches.
As always there were multiple dance in segments where the students dance in and then take places for next segment of the service. Unlike Men and Women’s days the students don’t wear their Maasai clothes but instead their best dresses or outfits.
I think my proudest moment came when little princess from our Middle preschool class and a regular to have me count her jumping rope, spoke during a prepared speech part and no notes and loud enough to be heard outside the church she delivered here speech without missing a beat.

Grace, one of our class 5 students delivered a message that had most of the adults laughing quite a bit. Maybe comedy is in her future, but she was confident and capable of leading the discussion that showed her natural leadership.

Obedi, also a class 5 student and the son of the minister, also did a great job. He was obviously nervous but worked through it to finish and everyone could clearly understand him which is not always the case with adult guests who speak before the church.

Our youngest teacher, Petro also spoke before the church as I believe a young adult. He not only works at our church but often is present for Compassion’s program on Saturday and leading youth bible study.
